Much more work is necessary to unleash fully the capabilities of the UAB faculty but we are making progress expeditiously.

2016 Top Professor
2016 proved to be a very good year in terms of effectiveness in the classroom and online at Georgia State University. Of the 90 professors in the Computer Information Systems department, I was ranked #1 by the students in overall teaching effectiveness. Much more to do to improve my effectiveness in the classroom but I was honored to be recognized by the students.
Brain Tumor Challenge
UAB was successful in winning a Grand Challenge in medicine – the analysis of 118,000 MRI images in less than 48 hours for the detection of tumors. A very short YouTube video describes the challenge.
