Snow Armageddon

On January 28th, 2014, Atlanta was hit with a massive snowstorm. As luck would have it, I was working in Atlanta at the System office on the 6th floor. At about 1150, I looking outside the window and heavy snow flurries were occurring. Given my acute understanding of how badly Georgians drive in the snow, I immediately ordered all of my employees to go home and all but two did. The two would spend the next couple of days in the system office (they were dating at the time) and the rest of us got out in time before the roads closed.

You would think this would be the end of the story but it is not. As soon as I got home, my lovely wife reminded me that I had 24 gauge steel, wall-mounted cabinets to mount. This would be a perfect time to mount the cabinets. She was right so I got to work. It all worked perfectly until I got to the last cabinet. The stud finder found the wall stud, I drilled in to set the anchor, and water squirted out to my face. The stud finder had found the water drain from the 2nd floor. Imitating the Dutch boy, I plugged the water with my finger and calmly asked my wife to turn off the main water flow. She knew exactly where it was. I didn’t have a patch kit and thus we began our search for a plumber in the middle of Snow Armageddon. Rightfully so, no one returned our calls. Eileen called our water irrigation guy in a stroke of brilliance. He came over and we jointly installed the patch.
